Twitter Outraged As Jasprit Bumrah & Mohammed Siraj Got Racially Abused In Sydney Test Match
Cricket is said to be a gentlemen game and the onus is not just on the players but the fans and the spectators as well to ensure that the spirit of the game is not violated. However, there are times when we have seen that the players or fans have acted in such a manner which has spoiled the name of the game.
The ongoing India-Australia four match test series has also been marred by a controversy as two Indian cricketers have been racially abused while they were fielding during the Australian innings. On the third day of the third test match which is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj informed their skipper Ajinkya Rahane that they have been racially abused by the spectators. This incident happened just few minutes before the end of the day three and Indian skipper along with senior players had a long chat with the on-field umpires.
The Indian team management was quite displeased with this incident and has lodged a formal complaint with the Cricket Australia and the International Cricket Council has not only condemned the incident but also asked for a report from CA.
Sean Carroll, who heads the Security and Integrity wing of CA also condemned the incident on behalf of CA and said that such discriminatory behavior won’t be tolerated in Australian cricket and assured strict action against those who are responsible for such an unfortunate incident.
However, the same thing happened on the fourth day again and Mohammed Siraj was racially abused again by some people in the crowd. This incident took place when Siraj was fielding at the fine leg and he informed his skipper Rahane about it who then had a talk with the on-field umpire and the game was stopped for some time. Mohammed Siraj also pointed out the people who were using abusive and racial slur and New South Wales Police went into the stands and made six people leave the stadium.
Here is the video of the incident:

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has also reacted on this incident as he said that he has also faced pathetic situation many times and strict action should be taken in this case. Virat Kohli wrote in his two tweets,
“Racial abuse is absolutely unacceptable. Having gone through many incidents of really pathetic things said on the boundary Iines, this is the absolute peak of rowdy behaviour. It’s sad to see this happen on the field. The incident needs to be looked at with absolute urgency and seriousness and strict action against the offenders should set things straight for once.”

Many people including the former cricketers, people from cricket fraternity and fans took to Twitter to express their annoyance and anger:
I hope these incidents of racist abuse are investigated and addressed immediately. Apparently it isn't difficult to find out who these idiots were. Expecting a quick resolution because that is what Cricket Australia would want too.

I hope the spectators evicted from the SCG today aren't allowed in to a ground at anytime. They tarnish our sport and they tarnish the reputation of their society.

Tum karo toh Sarcasm , aur koi Kare toh Racism .
Very unfortunate with what some of the Australian crowd has been doing at the SCG and spoiling the vibes of a good test series. pic.twitter.com/mrDTbX4t7i

Very unfortunate to see what’s happening at SCG. There is no place for this rubbish. Never understood the need to yell abuse at players on a sporting field.. If you’re not here to watch the game and can’t be respectful, then pls don’t come and spoil the atmosphere. #AUSvIND

Com’on spectators, we can all do better. The game of cricket is about celebrating EVERYONE and not abusing. #Unacceptable
P.s. Getting to watch cricket live from the stadium is a privilege in these difficult times, honour it.

Few dafts are doing the Aussie image of a sporting Nation grave harm by barracking or shall we say barking (?) racial abuses…SCG gets poor name by default..not quite Crkt I’m afraid..!!

Good on @tdpaine36 to have gone and checked with Ajinkya Rahane and the Indians as the umpires and The security officials get involved into investigating the matter #AusvIND pic.twitter.com/93FomZjpxd

There were some fans who were of the opinion that Virat Kohli would have given such people a proper answer and they were missing Kohli badly so they made some memes keeping him in mind as well.
Missing his batting and the heart of lion who knows how to reply them in their own language. India needs to give Aussies the taste of their own medicine. @imVkohli #virat #kohli #AUSvIND #INDvsAUSTest #Jadeja #Bumrah #Siraj pic.twitter.com/m23oZMvSzl

Bumrah and Siraj are their threat ( at Gabba) and they are playing mentally with them.
Not surprising as they know that India chances without their top bowlers (injured) and in Gabba Ashwin too will not be effective.#AUSvIND

I want bumrah to clean bowl smith and siraj to do so with marnus tommorow and then show 🖕 to Australian crowd this is the best reply

Extremely upsetting news coming in from the SCG. Living in the 21st century and with all the racial protests recently all these things shouldn’t pe a part of this beautiful game. Thoroughly check and punish the culprits !! #INDvAUS #bumrah #Siraj #SydneyTest pic.twitter.com/K5N83CNn2g

Had King Kohli been there…he would have shown Aussies thier real standards like this when they abused siraj and bumrah…
That's not arrogance that's answering in thier own language
But haters can still hate him.. doesn't really matter

These Aussies taking advantage of Kohli's absence. If he was there, no one would have dared to abuse Bumrah or Siraj for racism।. Only he knows how to give Back to Australians in their own backyard.
MISSING HIM MORE AFTER THIS INCIDENT. pic.twitter.com/Ph3puRlNn0

As far as the test match is concerned, India needs to score 309 runs to win the test match. Indian batsmen will need to bat very well and a lot will depend on the skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara now. Both the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are back in pavilion while Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant are injured because of which chances of India winning the match seems low but we should hope for the best.
