Cricket can easily be called as the most loved game of the country and some of the Indian cricketers have huge fan following and many fans consider them as their icons. There is no denying the fact that cricketers make us proud by winning tournaments and their hard work is also appreciated by the government departments by giving them a job. Let us tell you about some Indian cricketers who also have an honorary government job:

  1. Kapil Dev:

The hero of 1983 World Cup under whose leadership the Indian team won their first World Cup was appointed as the Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian army in the year 2008. Kapil Dev is the first Indian skipper who got the chance to lift the World Cup trophy and he is also the first Indian cricketer who has been appointed by the Indian Army on this honorary post.

  1. MS Dhoni:

Undoubtedly, MS Dhoni is one of the most successful skippers of the Indian team that we ever have had as under his captaincy, the team has won three ICC trophies – 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, 2011 ICC ODI World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. MS Dhoni was awarded with the honorary job of Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian territorial army after he lead the team and played an important role in the 2011 World Cup victory.

  1. KL Rahul:

KL Rahul may be an integral part of the Indian team in the shorter formats at the moment but the Reserve Bank of India recognized his talent even before he cemented his berth in the Indian squad. The Central bank of the nation recruited him on the post of assistant manager and he is also featured in the ads which spread financial literacy.

  1. Joginder Sharma:

Who can forget the last over of the Pakistani innings of the final match of 2007 T20 World Cup which was bowled by Indian bowler Joginder Sharma? It was Joginder who took the wicket of Misbah-ul-Haq and India won the first T20 World Cup title. Haryana Police rewarded Joginder Sharma by appointing him as the Deputy Superintendent of Police and the cricketer is presently totally devoted towards his job as he has taken retirement from cricket few years back. In fact, Joginder has been on the frontline in the current scenario and working towards saving people from coronavirus.

The legendary Indian cricketer is one of the most loved cricketers of the country and has contributed immensely towards the Indian cricket. Sachin has made many records in his career, some of them seem impossible to be broken and he is also touted as the God of cricket by majority of his fans. Indian Air Force honored the former Indian skipper and appointed him as the Group Captain in 2010.

The Indian leg-spinner who made his debut in 2016 has now become an integral part of the team, especially in the shorter formats of the game. Yuzvendra Chahal is also famous for his TikTok videos and he has been appointed as an Income Tax Officer by the Income Tax department.
