14 People & Groups Which Made Our Lives Easy In The COVID-19 Affected Year 2020

The year 2020 is certainly one of the worst years of our lives and it is all because of the coronavirus pandemic which affected our lives in a severe manner. While many people lost their lives, there were many who lost their livelihood as huge number of businesses closed down. Almost every sector was affected adversely and if we talk about India only then as per an estimate, nearly 12 crore people have lost their jobs during the coronavirus lockdown.

However, there were some people and groups who worked pretty hard in these times to help the others and we are listing 14 of them.

1. Sonu Sood

The Bollywood actor is certainly the man with golden heart who worked pretty hard with his team in order to ensure that each migrant worker who got stuck in a different city due to the coronavirus pandemic should return to his home. Sometime back he mortgaged his properties for arranging money that could be spent in philanthropic activities. While some villagers from a village in Andhra Pradesh have build a temple in his honour, a road in his hometown Moga, Punjab has been named after his mother.

2. Ratan N. Tata

Ratan N. Tata is one of the most popular and most loved businessmen of India who is adored by the Indians for his simple style of living and dedication towards their goal of helping the needy and poor. There is no doubt that Ratan Tata has played an important role in the success of Tata group, though he has retired now from the post of chairman of the group but he still heads the charitable organization of the group. In the times of coronavirus pandemic, Tata group committed an amount of Rs. 1500 crore for helping the people and out of this Rs.500 crore was donated in PM-CARES fund.

3. Akshay Kumar

The Khiladi of Bollywood was amongst the first ones to come forward and announce donation for the PM-CARES fund and he also took to social media to make people aware about the coronavirus and requested them remain inside their houses until it is very necessary to go out. He donated Rs. 25 crores in the PM-CARES fund and other than this he also helped some organizations for example, he also donated Rs. 3 crore to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for making masks, PPE kits, etc.

4. Shah Rukh Khan

The King of romance also announced various measures which were taken by his companies in order to help the people during the coronavirus pandemic such as giving PPE kits to Maharashtra government and West Bengal government, providing food, groceries to poor and the needy.

5. Salman Khan

Salman Khan is also known for his charitable works and during the coronavirus pandemic he took the responsibility of providing a monthly amount to the daily wage earners of Bollywood which was deposited directly into their bank accounts.

6. Azim Premji

The Wipro founder is the third biggest donor of the world as estimated by Forbes who has donated a hefty amount for combating the lethal COVID-19. A total of Rs.1,125 crores ($132 million) has been donated by Wipro, Azim Premji foundation and Wipro Enterprises and Azim Premji is the only Indian in the list of top 10 donors.

7. Ridhima Pandey

She is just 13 yrs old but has been working for a very big cause so that the world can be made a better place to live. She is an environmentalist who belongs from Uttarakhand and is also called India’s Greta Thunberg. BBC included her in the list of 100 Women which was announced in November, 2020.

8. Yashraj Mukhate

In the times when we were forced to sit at home, the music composer Yashraj Mukhate entertained us with his mashup, Rasode mein Kaun Tha and since then he has been doing a great job. His mashup Tuada Kutta, Sada Kutta which was released recently was also loved by the audiences.

9. Vikas Khanna

He is undoubtedly one of the most loved chefs of India and during the coronavirus pandemic, he donated around 4 million meals to those who were having difficulty in arranging two time meals for himself and their families.

10. Shikha Malhotra

The Bollywood actress who was seen with Shah Rukh Khan in his movie, Fan is a qualified nurse as well so when COVID-19 hit India, she decided to volunteer as a nurse for the COVID-19 patients. She also got infected with the lethal virus but fortunately she recovered. However a month after recovering from coronavirus, she suffered a stroke and her right side of the body got paralyzed. We pray for her speedy recovery.

11. The Bank employees of India

While majority of us were sitting at homes, the bank employees were working as usual in order to ensure that people don’t face problems in carrying out financial transactions. Many bank employees got infected due to this and we need to thank them for risking their lives.

12. Indian Police officers

The Indian police officials were on the roads during the coronavirus lockdown so that they can make sure that nobody else is out on the road. They ensured that people wear mask, maintain social distancing and come out of houses only if very necessary.

13. Indian doctors

They were the ones who fought the virus directly as they were treating the patients. Many doctors lost their lives in the process and this has also increased the respect for this profession in the eyes of common public to a great extent.

14. Nurses and medical staff

The contribution of nurses and medical staff can’t be ignored as they were the ones who were taking care of the infected patients and these frontline workers risked their lives just to save ours.
