Recently, the whole country celebrated Navratri and Dusshera, the victory of truth over evil and soon everyone will be celebrating the festival of lights, Diwali. However, this time Diwali will be celebrated in a different manner as people will avoid meeting each other due to coronavirus pandemic but still we will dig our teeth in the delicious sweets, light firecrackers and wear new clothes. But there is one thing more which we will indulge before Diwali and that is cleaning the house (Diwali ki safai). The young kids find it pretty boring to clean the house but they have to do it as their mother leaves them with no option. Some netizens got reminded of their yearly task and Twitter was flooded with memes and jokes while some also stated that it is that time of the year when you see your old belongings and get nostalgic.

Here are some selected tweets:

Cleaning the house before Diwali is considered pretty necessary as it is a belief that Goddess Lakshmi enters the house only if it is clean and she doesn’t blesses those houses which are dirty. Because of this #Diwalikisafai has become an annual ritual in the houses of Hindus, while some like it some don’t like it but everyone carries out it. In a sense, this ensures that our surroundings are cleaned on a regular basis so that we don’t get sick because many diseases get spread due to filthiness.
