Sonu Sood Honoured With UNDP’s Special Humanitarian Action Award For Helping Migrant Workers
Bollywood is facing the ire of the majority of the Indians as some big names have come up in the investigation of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). People were already very annoyed with Bollywood after the sudden departure of Sushant Singh Rajput who was found hanging in his apartment. No note was recovered but it was stated by the Mumbai Police that he was suffering from depression and was also getting treated for it. Soon nepotism debate surfaced again and people started trolling the star kids.
However, there was one person from Bollywood who was earning the blessings of people throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. Yes, we are talking about none other than Sonu Sood.
The actor who has mostly played the characters of villain in movies turned out to be a real-life hero as he helped lakhs of migrant workers in returning to their homes during the coronavirus lockdown. During the lockdown, many migrant workers lost their jobs and found it difficult to survive so they decided to return to their homes but as there was no transportation available, they started their journey on foot.
It was then that Sonu Sood came in the picture and arranged for the transportation of these migrant workers. His efforts were appreciated by the whole nation and now he has joined the ranks of the International celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham as Sonu Sood has been awarded with special humanitarian action award by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Sonu Sood has got the recognition in a virtual ceremony on Monday and this is certainly the biggest award of his life. On getting this award, Sonu Sood has termed it as a rare and special honour. He adds that whatever he has done, it is for the people of his country without any expectations but getting recognized certainly feels nice. He also says that he supports UNDP and their efforts for making this world a great place to live.
We are proud of Sonu Sood and what makes this achievement more special is the fact that he is the first Bollywood celeb to receive this highly esteemed award. Although many B-Town celebs like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra etc. have served as UN Goodwill ambassadors, they have not won this award.
God Bless Sonu Sood!
