In year 2020, the number of Bollywood movies made or released is pretty less in comparison to other years because of the coronavirus pandemic which not only brought Bollywood but also the whole world to a standstill. Every year hundreds of movies are made in Bollywood and most of the times, the writer keeps in mind an actor while writing the story but many times the actor who was finalized the role has to leave the project and someone else has to be roped in for that particular role.

Today we will tell you about 7 such replacements that have taken place in Bollywood:

1. Sushant Singh Rajput was replaced by John Abraham in Romeo Akbar Walter

The original choice for the lead role in this spy movie was Sushant Singh Rajput and even the motion posters were released by the makers in which Sushant Singh Rajput was featured. However, SSR later on backed out as he was quite busy with other projects such as Drive and Raabta. Then the makers finalized John Abraham for the lead role whose past some movies delivered well on the box-office.

2. Harshvardhan Kapoor was replaced by Ayushmann Khurrana in Andhadhun

Andhadhun can easily be called one of the best Hindi movies of the year 2018 and it also proved to be a milestone in the career of actor Ayushmann Khurrana who was conferred with the National Film Award for Best Actor for the lead role that he played in the movie. The movie was not only praised by the critics but it also performed pretty well on the box-office. However, not many people are aware of the fact that first this movie was offered to Harshvardhan Kapoor who agreed to work in the movie but later on left the project as he had some creative differences with the director Sriram Raghvan. It is also being said that Raghvan wanted his lead actor to attend the workshop so that he can play the role better but Harshvardhan was not ready for it.

3. Arjun Kapoor was replaced by Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh

Kabir Singh, the 2019 released movie which was a remake of Telugu movie, Arjun Reddy was one of the biggest hits of the year and Shahid Kapoor performed so brilliantly that imagining someone else in that role is impossible now. However, first Arjun Kapoor was roped in for the role of Kabir Singh but the director Sandeep Reddy Vanga wanted to cast Shahid Kapoor in this role so Arjun Kapoor left the project and we are pretty sure that Arjun must be pretty unhappy with it as of now.

4. Smriti Irani was replaced by Supriya Pathak in All Is Well

The 2015 released movie which starred Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Asin and Supriya Pathak in lead roles performed miserably at the box-office. In the movie, actor-turned politican Smriti Irani was supposed to play the character of Abhishek Bachchan’s mother in the movie but then she was appointed as the HRD minister and got busy with her ministerial work. Though some scenes were shot with Smriti Irani, the makers were left with no choice other than roping Supriya Pathak for the role.

5. Govinda’s role was deleted from Jagga Jasoos

Not many people are aware of the fact that actor Govinda has also played a character in the 2017 released Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos. The movie was directed by Anurag Basu and though it was shot aesthetically and was a beautiful movie, the chances of its success got ruined because of the delay in shooting and increasing production costs. Govinda did a cameo in the movie but it was deleted as it didn’t fit the storyline which was changed after the scenes were shot. Ranbir Kapoor even apologized to Govinda for it and said that it is their fault (Ranbir and Anurag Basu) to give a role to Govinda and not doing justice with the character.

6. Abhishek Bachchan was replaced by Harshvardhan Rane in Paltan

JP Dutta directed 2018 released Paltan was based on the Indo-China clashes that took place in 1967 after the 1962 war and Abhishek Bachchan was supposed to play the character of Major Harbhajan Singh. However, just before the shooting started Abhishek Bachchan backed out from the project and the makers replaced him with Harshvardhan Rane.

7. Ranbir Kapoor was replaced by Ranveer Singh in Dil Dhadakne Do

The role of Kabir Mehra was earlier offered to the Jagga Jasoos actor Ranbir Kapoor and he was quite keen on playing the character as he was also getting a chance to act with her cousin sister in this movie as Kareena Kapoor Khan was finalized for the role of Ayesha Mehra. However, Ranbir Kapoor backed out of the project due to some reason and later on, Kareena also left the project. While Ranveer Singh was roped in for the role of Kabir Mehra, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was finalized for the role of Ayesha Mehra.
It is being said that Zoya Akhtar once again offered a role to Ranbir Kapoor in the movie, Gully Boy but he again turned it down as it was not a main lead role.
