11 Best TV & OTT Shows That Made 2020 Entertaining & Saved Us From Boredom Amid Pandemic
The 2020 is certainly not the year which we will want to remember as the majority of us were forced to remain inside our houses due to the coronavirus pandemic and the economy has also been left in a pretty poor state. However, staying at home helped us in unleashing out our creativity and gave us some time to do those things which were not able to carry out in our routine life. Some TV shows and web series also helped us in passing our time by entertaining us so we are going to tell you about some shows of 2020 which made this year a little easy to pass.
1. Never Have I Ever
Created by Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling, Never Have I Ever is a story of a 15-yr old South Asian girl who loves in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. This young Indian American teenager has to cope up with the demise of her father and also has to live her life by making a balance in both the cultures. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan played the lead role and the series received good reviews.
2. The Great
This American comedy-drama is a satirical take on the rise of Catherine the Great who was the Empress of All Russia and married to Emperor Peter III. It is a fictional story in which Elle Fanning played the role of the Empress of Russia and Nicholas Hoult played the character of Emperor. The series was liked the audiences and there will be a second season to it as well.
3. The Queen’s Gambit
This drama is based on the 1983 novel of same name authored by Walter Tevis. It is based in the 1950s and 1960s and is the story of orphan child who is a brilliant chess player. The series shows her rise in Chess worldwide and how she dealt with her emotional problems, drugs and alcohol.
4. Scam 1992
This show is based on the real story of Harshad Mehta who committed a scam in the Indian Stock Market in the year 1992. The lead role has been played by Pratik Gandhi and it is certainly one of the best shows that we can watch.
This Indian show is certainly a treat to watch for those who like to watch comedy shows. With a great star cast including Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Jitendra Kumar, etc, the show promises some good laughing moments. It is based on the story of an engineering graduate who has to take up the job of Panchayat secretary in a small village because of the lack of jobs.
Created by Greg Daniels, this show is set in the year 2033 where the humans have the option of uploading their consciousness into the virtual afterlife and they amount of money they have will help them in deciding the type of afterlife that they can enjoy. This show is like fresh breeze because of its unique concept.
7. The Undoing
This mystery psychological thriller is a must watch as it stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant in the lead roles. It is based on the 2014 launched novel, You Should Have Known which was written by Jean Hanff Korelitz. The story is about therapist whose husband is accused of taking someone’s life in a cruel manner.
8. Paatal Lok
This Hindi show was liked by the audiences though it also created some controversies. It is somewhat based on The Story of My Assassins which was written by Tarun Tejpal. The star cast included Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee , Gul Panag, Neeraj Kabi, Swastika Mukherjee and Ishwak Singh.
This Indian crime drama marks the comeback of beautiful and talented actress Sushmita Sen in the lead role. It is based on Penoza, a Dutch drama series in which Sushmita plays the character of a strong and independent woman who took some tough decisions to save her family. There will be second season of the show as well.
10. I May Destroy You
This British comedy-drama is based on the story of a Twitter celeb turned novelist who became very popular after the launch of her first novel. With less time on her hands for finishing her second novel, she took time out for her friends but next morning she is not able to remember what happened in the night.
This American sci-fi thriller not only received positive reviews but the critics also appreciated it for acting and imagination. It is based on the story of a software engineer who wants to find out the truth behind the mysterious death of her boyfriend of the very first of joining his new job.
