Irrfan Khan was one of the most versatile and talented actors of Bollywood and his departure after a long fight with his illness has indeed created a vacuum that can never be filled. He had given some of the powerful and memorable performances which prove that he was a mine of talent and an exceptional star who had made a place for himself in the industry with his sheer hard-work, dedication and determination.

1. The Lunchbox

Directed by Ritesh Batra and starring Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles, “The Lunchbox” presented a different kind of love story which began over lunchbox which a young wife sends to her husband. The lunchbox not only contained delicious food but also a note; nevertheless by mistake, it gets delivered to an old man who is on the verge of retirement.

2. Angrezi Medium

Homi Adajania directed movie “Angrezi Medium” is the sequel of “Hindi Medium” which showed what’s wrong with our education system. The leading lady in the first part was played by Saba Qamar while the sequel stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Radhika Madan. The film shows what a father can do to make her daughter happy and it will surely bring tears in your eyes.

3. Piku

Shoojit Sircar’s film had some of the biggest names of the industry like the megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone too along with Irrfan Khan and with this film, Irrfan proved that he is flawless in comedy roles too just like he plays serious, intense or emotional characters to the perfection.

4. Maqbool

Vishal Bhardwaj directed “Maqbool” is inspired from William Shakespeare’s drama Macbeth. In the film, the character of Irrfan who is the right-hand of an underworld don falls for the don’s mistress and she then provokes him to take the boss’ life and rule in his place.

5. Hindi Medium

Saket Chaudhary’s flick throws light on parents’ obsession of making their children study in English medium schools only in the present era and how schools are profiting themselves and making more money. The movie was a blockbuster and people could relate to it as it talked about an important issue.

6. Paan Singh Tomar

Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the flick showcases the real story of an athlete Paan Singh Tomar. He is a gold medal winner at the Indian National Games; however, he becomes a dacoit due to the circumstances as cops took no action when someone took life of his mother. Irrfan got the National Film Awards for the Best Actor for his exceptional performance in “Paan Singh Tomar”.

7. The Warrior

British filmmaker Asif Kapadia’s movie is a must watch for all the fans of Irrfan Khan. It was the one that stopped the actor from leaving acting since he was not getting any good roles. Moreover, he didn’t wish to work on the small screens anymore as well. Irrfan gave a powerful performance in the flick which was appreciated not just by movie buffs but the critics too.

8. Madaari

Nishikant Kamat directed flick shows the plight of a heartbroken father who lost his son because of the government’s negligence. To take vengeance, he then kidnaps Home Minister’s 10 years old son to force the administration for meeting his demands.

9. Life In A… Metro

In the movie, Irrfan has perfectly portrayed the character of a person who is very eager to get married as soon as possible. He is a pretty straightforward guy who doesn’t mince his words. His chemistry with Konkona Sen Sharma was loved by audiences. Despite the fact that it was a multi-starrer film, Irrfan stood apart because of his brilliant acting.

10. Haasil

Tigmanshu Dhulia directed flick stars some brilliant actors other than Irrfan Khan, such as Ashutosh Rana and Jimmy Shergill and revolves around student politics. The movie hit the theatres in 2003 and Irrfan got the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor in a Negative Role, thanks to his superb performance in “Haasil”.
