10 Bollywood Movies That Will Be Released On OTT Platforms Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

The Indian movie sector has been severely affected because of the coronavirus pandemic as for more than two months now, no flick has been released and it is still not clear as to when the government will allow the cinema halls to open. Some producers are finding it difficult to wait more and they are planning to release their movies on the Over The Top (OTT) platforms such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar, etc.

In this article, we are listing 10 such Bollywood movies that will be released on the OTT platforms:

  1. Gulabo Sitabo

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer “Gulabo Sitabo” is slated to release on 12th June 2020 on Amazon Prime Video. The film is based on the tussle which goes on between the landlord of a haveli and his tenant.

  1. Shakuntala Devi

This movie is based on the biopic of Shakuntala Devi, the famous mathematician who is also popular as the human computer. The lead role of Shakuntala Devi has been played by actress Vidya Balan and earlier the flick was scheduled to hit the theatres on 8th May 2020 but now it will be released on Amazon Prime Video.

  1. Laxmmi Bomb

Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer “Laxmmi Bomb” was supposed to clash with Salman Khan’s “Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai” on Eid 2020 but now the film is going to release on Disney Hotstar.

  1. Ludo

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Ludo is a multi-starrer movie featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Rajkummar Rao, etc. and viewers will be able to watch it on Netflix.

  1. Khaali Peeli

Directed by Maqbool Khan, Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday starrer “Khaali Peeli” is a romantic action movie and it is going to release on Netflix pretty soon.

  1. Mimi

Kriti Sanon starrer “Mimi” which is a remake of 2011 National Award winning Marathi film “Mala Aai Vhhaychy!” will also get released digitally on Disney + Hotstar. Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar will also be portraying important roles in the flick.

  1. Jhund

The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru in prominent roles and is based on the life of social worker Vijay Barse who founded Slum Soccer, an NGO. The director of “Jhund” is Nagraj Manjule and it is said to release digitally, most probably on Netflix but nothing can be said with confirmation in regard to the OTT platform on which it will release.

  1. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl

This film is based on the life of Gunjan Saxena who became the first Indian woman pilot to take part in combat. She is also known as the Kargil Girl as she was the pilot of Cheetah helicopter and played an important role in 1999 Kargil war. Actress Janhvi Kapoor is playing the lead role in “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl” which will see a digital release on Netflix.

  1. Indoo Ki Jawani

The movie stars Kiara advani and Aditya Seal in lead roles and it is all set for a digital release rather than a theatrical release but the platform is not yet confirmed.

  1. Shiddat: Journey Beyond Love

Radhika Madan’s movie “Angrezi Medium” was released digitally and now her next film is also moving towards a digital release. “Shiddat: Journey Beyond Love” also stars Mohit Raina, Sunny Kaushal and Diana Penty in lead roles.
