The romantic drama set in the times of Independence of 1947, “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” was among the best movies of its time with a brilliant blend of action, patriotism, love, politics and power. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel created a spell on the audiences with their amazing chemistry in the flick which sold 5,09,54,000 tickets.
#5. “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge” – 4,80,89,000 Tickets

‘Bade Bade deshon mein aaisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain… Senorita!!’ Who can forget this iconic dialogue? Fascinating locations, romance, drama, culture, enchanting songs, epic scenes and mind-blowing performances of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol make “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge” a cult movie. J. P. Dutta’s “Border” was a multi-starrer film which ignited a flame of patriotism in every Indian’s heart. Remember “Mhari Chhoriya chhoron se kam hai ke”? Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s “Dangal” is based on the real life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who dreamed of getting gold for India but as he couldn’t do it, he trained his daughters in a way that they became wrestlers, won gold medal and thus fulfill their father’s dream. The film which brilliantly showcased Mahavir Singh Phogat’s struggles and eventual success sold 3,69,32,000 tickets.
#9. “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” – 3,56,11,000 Tickets

Karan Johar’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” had a different concept as it made the country believe that your best friend is your love (Pyaar dosti hai). Starring Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan, the flick had everything from comedy to drama, romance to emotions because of which it attained huge success on the box office by selling 3,56,11,000 tickets.
#10. “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” – 3,54,12,000 Tickets

Salman Khan’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” showcased an emotional bond between an Indian Hindu man and a Pakistani Muslim girl child which can’t be expressed in words. The girl Munni whose character is played by Harshaali Malhotra is unable to speak and gets separated from her family while they were on a visit to India. How Salman helped her reunite with her family by going to Pakistan and his interesting journey stole hearts of people. It is one of the biggest hits of Salman Khan which managed to sell 3,54,12,000 tickets.
